MELBUR Star Anise Seeds

Star anise is a spice made from the fruit of the Chinese evergreen tree Illicium verum. It’s aptly named for the star-shaped pods from which the spice seeds are harvested and has a flavor that is reminiscent of licorice. Star anise is famed not only for its distinct flavor and culinary applications but also for its medicinal benefits.

It is rich in powerful bioactive componds such as flavonoids and polyphenolic compounds, which contribute to the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of star anise. It also has antiviral capabilities, antifungal properties, antibacterial benefits among many other medicinal benefits. 

It is also easy to incorporate star anise seeds into your cooking and in fact, pairs well with coriander, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. You may also cook with star anise as whole or as a powder.
