Design and Build

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro has a stainless-steel frame with glossy finish, Ceramic Shield front with an oleophobic coating. The back is a glass back with a frosted finish, which can still shatter when dropped so a case is advised.

The phone is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. Silver, Graphite, Gold, Pacific Blue are the colour options you can choose from. The dimensions are 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4 mm and weigh in at 189g.

The screen is a 6.1″ Retina XDR OLED of 1170 x 2532 px resolution and a pixel density of 460ppi with pick brightness of 600 nits. The 120Hz refresh rate is new to iPhone 12 Pro and has touch sensing. Other display features include; HDR10, Dolby Vision support, wide colour gamut and True Tone.

User Interface and Performance

Apple iPhone 12 Pro comes installed with the iOS 14.1, upgradable to iOS 14.4. It is just as fast as the previous iOS thanks to Apple A14 Bionic chip (5nm) – Hexa-core (2×3.1 GHz Firestorm + 4×1.8 GHz Icestorm with 3.1GHz Turbo boost) Apple CPU. It has a four-core Apple GPU, 16-core Apple NPU 4-gen which gaming guys will love.

Camera Quality

Apple iPhone 12 Pro has a triple rear camera setup which is all 12MP. 26mm main wide-angle with f/1.6 aperture and features OIS, Dual Pixel AF; 13mm ultrawide-angle camera with f/2.4 and 120-degree field of view and a 52mm telephoto, f/2.0 featuring OIS and 2x optical zoom; dual-LED flash is also included with slow sync.

This takes some of the best all-round photos that you can get on a smartphone at the moment. Daylight photoshoots are good and the night mode is quite capable. The photo enthusiasts will definitely enjoy the iPhone 12 Pro shoots.

The selfie camera is not that different from the one that came with the 11 Pro with Dual camera – 23mm 12MP f/2.2 front-facing camera with HDR mode + 3D TOF camera. It comes equipped with Night Mode, Smart HDR 3 and Deep Fusion for those low light shots.

Video Recording

The capabilities of the iPhone 12 Pro in terms of video recording are very good but still no 8K support. The rear cameras can take 2160p at 60 and 30fps, 1080p at 30, 60, 120 and 240fps video recording with wider dynamic range and spatial sound. OIS + EIS capabilities are also enabled with Dolby Vision.

Battery

Apple iPhone 12 Pro comes with a 2,815 mAh battery equipped with 20W fast charging. It also supports 15W Qi wireless charging using MagSafe which uses magnetic attachments. Battery rating according to Gsmarena’s endurance test sits at 81h. This is a bit less than its predecessor.

Connectivity

Comes with either Single SIM with eSIM support from the carrier or physical Dual SIM on 5G and 4G. Supported Wi-Fi tech a/b/g/n/ac/6 with Bluetooth 5.0. Single Lightning port which Apple are sure working on probably getting rid of in the future.

The phone also supports GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS; NFC; Apple U1 chip ultrawideband.
